Is the tour really 100% private — just our group?
+
Yes — always. We have never and will never add strangers to your booking. When you book for two people, it is two people in your private vehicle with your dedicated guide. No exceptions. This is a structural commitment, not a marketing claim.
What fitness level do I need for Kawah Ijen?
+
Moderate fitness is recommended. The hike is approximately 3km one-way with a consistent uphill gradient — not technical, but challenging at altitude. Our guides calibrate the pace to your group. Guests with knee issues or respiratory conditions should consult their doctor before booking. Gas masks are mandatory in the crater and are provided.
What if the weather is bad or the blue fire isn't visible?
+
Blue fire visibility depends on volcanic activity — it is almost always visible but never 100% guaranteed. Our guides monitor conditions daily and will advise if there is a concern. For weather cancellations caused by extreme rain, we reschedule at no extra cost. Blue fire is a natural phenomenon and not guaranteed, which is clearly stated at booking.
Can you pick us up from Bali for the Ijen tour?
+
Yes, with a Bali/Gilimanuk pickup add-on. This typically involves crossing via the Bali-Java ferry (Gilimanuk–Ketapang) which we can arrange. Please mention this in your enquiry and we'll include the additional transfer cost in your custom quote.
How far in advance should I book?
+
We recommend booking at least 3–5 days in advance to ensure your preferred date is available. Peak season (July–September) books out 2–3 weeks ahead. That said, we often accommodate last-minute bookings with 24–48 hours notice — WhatsApp is the fastest way to check availability.
What payment methods do you accept?
+
Stripe (credit/debit card, 2.9%+$0.30 fee), PayPal (3.49% fee), and Bank Transfer to BCA (no fee — preferred). For bank transfer: account number 1234567890 (PT The Journey Journey Indonesia). Use your booking code as the transfer reference. Payment confirms your booking.
